How I Eat

I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount

I follow a mainly grain-free, sugar-free diet. I do include some dairy, when I am able to get ahold of raw, pastured milk. I also eat Greek yoghurt when I find it on sale! Mostly, though, I use either coconut or almond milk. I eat protein at every meal and eat a lot of veggies and some fruit. I use raw, unpasteurized local honey. I eat organic when I can and love to use the local farmers.

How I Train

I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate

I have a coach who determines my programming

I record my workouts

Whatever gets thrown into the hopper on any given day is what I do.

My Athletic Background

I have no athletic background besides CrossFit

Other than being a 'health nut' since the age of 15, I never played organized sports. Apparently I wasn't very good at them. I was kind of awkward athletically, especially the whole hand/eye coordination. I have done Pilates and yoga at home, which I do love! I also did P90, and also loved that and did get good results. I biked the hills of my home-town for a time as well, with my 3-year-old in the carrier and got some pretty rockin' and strong legs and arms from that. All of this, though, in the last 7 years or so. I fell in love with CrossFit from my first WOD. "Wow!" I thought. "I just did that! And I'm still alive!"

My Experience With CrossFit

I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)

I have completed the CrossFit Level 1 certificate course

I train other people

My Work/Rest Schedule

I do multiple workouts in a day 2x a week

I typically rest 4 or more days per month

There are a couple of days that I am unable to get to the box because of other commitments/work. But I'm there at least 4 days a week. I do appreciate my down days, though. It keeps me 'on' mentally and not too tired or sore physically. I completed my Level I in September 2011 and I am registered for the CrossFit Kids certification in April. I can't wait! I train others any time I have the chance and I am looking forward to our affiliate having a full-fledged kids program.

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

2-4 years

I started in October 2009 going only twice a week. I kept going only twice a week and getting a competition in when I could until April 2011. I became full-time at that time and have seen great advances. My lifts are getting stronger; technique has improved on some body-weight and gymnastics.
