I am a husband and father of two girls 10yrs old and 5 yrs old. I work full time as a firefighter, EMT and co-own CrossFit Philia with my wife Denise. In college I was a Division 1 swimmer and rugby player at the University of Northern Iowa. Following college I began working as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Following work in Tampa I went on to work as head strength and conditioning coach for NFL Europe’s Rhein Fire and the XFL’s Orlando Rage before settling into CrossFit four years ago.

How I Eat

I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount

I tried for years to eat the way I thought would be the best for my performance. Unhappy with my muscle recovery and inability to maitain an intense training schedule without overtraining, I did the unthinkable..finally asked my wife for help :) My wife does nutritional consultations for our athletes, and as it turns out she knows more than I do. My recovery is so much better and I have stayed healthier this year than in all years past. We do not eat strict paleo or Zone, but follow very well balenced and vitamin and mineral rich meal plan. I am very blessed to have her help.
