I've been doing a mixture of CrossFit.com WODs and my own programming since August 2007. As of January 1, 2013 I'm strictly following CrossFit.com.

I began CrossFit by trying it alone (without a coach)

Started in my garage in August of 2005. First WOD was Murph. It took me most of the afternoon.
