I suffer from left sided complete foot drop, so am officially classified as 40% disabled. I only discovered the awesomeness of CrossFit late last year, and refuse to allow my disability to hold me back in any of my work outs. Having a qualified biokinetisist as my coach certainly helps me too! I was not going to enter the Open this year, as I'm only in my third month of CrossFit training, but after seeing some of the videos and interviews posted online thought why the hell not! I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
How I Eat
I weigh and measure my food
In 2012 I lost 35kg and am now focused on losing the last 8kg slowly and steadily, while increasing my strength and fitness. I'm trying to find the balance between eating for weight loss and eating for performance - it's a trial and error process which I'm enjoying!
How I Train
I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate
I have a coach who determines my programming
I record my workouts
I have entered the Ironman 70.3 in January 2014 so I currently do 4 CrossFit wods a week, as well as around 5 or 6 swims/spinning classes and runs.
My Athletic Background
I played youth or high school level sports
I was a provincial athlete for synchronised swimming and water polo back in high school. I still have a great love for water sports and swimming!
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)
I have had a life changing experience due to CrossFit
I am looking forward to reaching a level of competence and experience where I can do my level one certificate, and possibly coach CrossFit kids one day!
My Work/Rest Schedule
I do multiple workouts in a day 3+ times a week
I typically rest 4 or more days per month
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Less than 6 months
I only started CrossFit in December 2012, but am hooked! I'm so excited to see what my body can do in the next year, and compare my results and scores with 2014's Open!
