I suffer from left sided complete foot drop, so am officially classified as 40% disabled. I started CrossFit in Jan 2013 and am obsessed with it! The WODS are often extra tricky for me, but I refuse to allow my disability to hold me back. Currently I am out of shape, unfit, and out of practice after taking a few months off to focus on triathlon training, but I loved The Open last year and know that I will LOVE it again this year!

How I Eat

I weigh and measure my food

In 2012 I lost 35kg. Due to unmanaged depression in 2013 I put a lot of it back on. I am now on the path to losing it all again - with 5kg down and 23 to go. I run my own weight loss and life coaching company called A New Weigh which I love - and am so excited to get back in tip top shape!

How I Train

I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate

I have a coach who determines my programming

I record my workouts

I have entered the Ironman 70.3 in January 2015 so I will be doing 3 CrossFit wods a week, as well as around 5 or 6 swims/cycles and runs.

My Athletic Background

I played youth or high school level sports

I was a provincial athlete for synchronised swimming and water polo back in high school. I still have a great love for water sports and swimming! Unfortunately my disability has meant that I can never return to those sports on a Provincial level.

My Experience With CrossFit

I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)

I have had a life changing experience due to CrossFit

I am looking forward to reaching a level of competence and experience where I can do my level one certificate, and possibly coach CrossFit kids one day!

My Work/Rest Schedule

I usually only do 1 workout a day

I do multiple workouts in a day 3+ times a week

I typically rest 4 or more days per month

Recently I have been off due to injury, so have not been training much at all. However the plan is to get back up to 8 workouts a week!

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

6-12 months

I started CrossFit in January 2013, and was seeing great progress last year until an injury resulted in some forced time off.
