I lost 80 pounds 6 years ago & have kept it off except for muscle changes. I have been CrossFitting for 2 years. I also love weight lifting. Two years ago I could not run a mile, but I finished the Tough Mudder & several other running events last year, & now I look forward to running. I have learned a lot about myself & my skill level since starting CrossFit, & I could fill up pages in any workout log just describing the resulting changes to my body, my confidence level, & my self-esteem. My favorite WODs include anything with tires, ropes, walls, logs, & heavy deadlifts. I now take every opportunity to learn more about CrossFit.

How I Eat

I eat strict Paleo

Adopted Paleo the same day I entered the CrossFit world 2 years ago. Haven't gone back. Portion control is my weakness, so I try to weigh & measure my food as often as possible but I'm not as good about that as I could be.

How I Train

I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate

I record my workouts

I started with a personal trainer several years ago. Now I workout with a CrossFit affiliate, Atomic CrossFit, 4 or 5 times a week. I have several fitness goals, & most of them work well together. I plan my workouts to match the goals, challenges, or competiions. I like working with all age groups to see how I stand up against others. My most rewarding days have come from participating in obstacle runs with college students (I am the teacher) & hear them say to other participants, "This is my professor".

My Athletic Background

I have no athletic background besides CrossFit

When I began weight loss 7 years ago I started boxing (like Rocky, not kick boxing) & training with heavy weights. Now it's all CrossFit. In 2006 I could not even walk across the room, so I have no other athletic background. Since going to CrossFit full time I have increased my endurance, learned new skills, & gained strength.

My Experience With CrossFit

I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)

I have completed the CrossFit Level 1 certificate course

I have attended one or more specialty courses

I have been CrossFitting off & on for 2 years, but since February 2012 have been CrossFitting full time. I have learned 3 important & life changing things about myself since starting CrossFit: 1) I'm not a quitter, 2) I can still learn, grow & get better, 3) I can still try new things & overcome fears, even at my age. I have completed the CrossFit Level 1 course, the Strongman course (which all women of any age should do), the Online Judges course, & in March will take the Gymnastics course.

My Work/Rest Schedule

I do multiple workouts in a day 1x a week

I typically rest 4 or more days per month

My work schedule dictates that I rest certain days. I will do more than 1 workout a day if my schedule allows. I will workout as often as possible, though unfortunately that is not often enough. (I would love to work out full-time!)

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

1-2 years

I started exactly 2 years ago this week!! When I started 2 years ago I was also training in 2 other gyms. In February 2012 I started CrossFit full time, then in Summer 2012 I officially dropped the other 2 places.
