ATHLETE INFORMATION

How I Eat

I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount

I eat 3 or 4 meals a day and I don't shy away from the dark chocolate but for the most part, I just eat what I feel like as long as I consider it to be good fuel.

How I Train

I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate

I workout at Crossfit Oakland. I joined there in 2006 and started to train quite seriously pretty much right away. It's taken me a while to get some of my movements up to a high standard, however.

My Athletic Background

I played youth or high school level sports

I played college sports

I swam competitively starting in 5th grade. In college, I left the swimming pool and started playing rugby and I stayed with rugby for about another 4 years after college. I even had a very short stint where I was USA rugby player hopeful which is to say I played at USA camp. However, in 2007 I tore my ACL and had my surgery around the first of the year in 2008. And in the rehab from that surgery, I ended up tearing my Achilles and in the rebab from both those injuries I spent so much time in the CF gym, I just feel in love with CF and couldn't find that same passion in rugby any longer.

My Experience With CrossFit

I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)

Mike Minium has coached me since the beginning.

My Work/Rest Schedule

I usually only do 1 workout a day

I do multiple workouts in a day 2x a week

I typically rest 4 or more days per month

I do about 1 and a half workouts a day. I always plan to take Thursday and Sunday but to be honest, the best tool I have found is to listen to my body. Some Thursdays I'm still ready to push and some Friday's I need off, for example. My goal is to push my threshold while remaining as healthy as possible!
