My Athletic Background
I played youth or high school level sports
I played college sports
I played professional sports
I did gymnastics and played basketball throughout my youth and high school. I started pole vaulting my 2nd year in college when I walked on to the track team and told the coaches I'd like to try to pole vault. Four years later, I walked away as a NCAA All-American. I continued on with pole vaulting for a couple of years after I graduated and was blessed to be able to travel to Europe and Asia to compete.
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit by trying it alone (without a coach)
I have completed the CrossFit Level 1 certificate course
I train other people
I started crossfitting on my own when I was looking for something to do beside run on a treadmill at the gym. Funny thing is that my pole vault training looked a lot like cross fit! That's what made me want to try it. I would email Carlos at CF Houston to ask questions about movements. He put me in touch with Grace and we started doing WODs at the globe gym and in parks around the neighborhood. Grace, Jim, and JB opened Atomic Crossfit and I've been a member and coach ever since.
My Work/Rest Schedule
I do multiple workouts in a day 3+ times a week
I typically rest 4 or more days per month
My workouts usually begin in my garage and end at the gym. I am a PE teacher, gym owner, wife and mom to 2 great kids. Balancing training, work and family time is sometimes a struggle, but we make it work!
