I have degrees in physics and astronomy and work in the aerospace industry. I have two children, four step-children, and two grandchildren. My long-time avocation is soaring (flying sailplanes). I'm a sailplane flight instructor, competition (racing) pilot, and national record holder. I began my crossfit training with Crossfit Impulse in October, 2011 and try to train 3-4 days per week.
How I Eat
I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount
I eat 1-3 full cheat meals per week
I've been trying to follow the Zone diet, although I don't measure my portions.
How I Train
I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate
My Athletic Background
I played youth or high school level sports
In high school, I was a shot-putter and discus thrower, and worked out regularly with weights in the school gym. In the years since, I've been an off-and-on runner and have engaged sporadically in weight training.
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)
I was introduced to Crossfit by my son a few years ago. In 2011, I joined him and my son-in-law, who is now a level 1 trainer, in a crossfit WOD, which stretched my athletic prowess to the limit, but convinced me that I needed to do this! Crossfit training is by far the best training regimen I've tried in the (many) decades since high school. I recommend it to friends and acquaintances whenever the subject of exercise arises. My daughter recently began Crossfit training under the tutelage of her husband, the level 1 trainer mentioned above.
My Work/Rest Schedule
I usually only do 1 workout a day
I typically rest 4 or more days per month
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
