Bio

I'm a San Francisco Bay Area native who has spent the better part of his life in Marin County. Growing up in Marin, I played soccer, baseball, and golf. I competed as a Division I athlete at the University of California Berkeley as a member of the Men's Soccer Team. While at Cal I pursued a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology with an emphasis on Human Physiology and Nutrition. I went on to complete a year of graduate work at the Ohio State University School of Medicine. My passion for health and fitness led me to change career paths and move in the to fitness industry. What began as an interest in improving my own athletic performance has morphed into a way of life and a tool to bring others closer to their health and performance goals. I found Crossfit in 2007 when I took a class from Kelly Starrett at SFCF. However, it wasn't until 3 years later that I took to the competitive CrossFit world. From 2010 to 2012 my affiliate competed at the CrossFit Games and in 2013 I made the switch to competing as an individual in the sport of fitness. Last year, I earned a spot to the 2013 CrossFit Games. It was a reflection of the love and passion I have for this sport. The personal journey I'm on with CrossFit keep me tied to the sport. I'm proud to be an owner and head trainer at TJ's Gym where I get to practice a form of health care that I've always dreamed I would have the chance to practice. marcusfilly.com
