I grew up practicing martial arts and found my passion for improving my body there. I took up weight lifting in college and that stuck for a while. I've also tried Insanity, P90X, Freeletics, and all that kind of stuff. I just enjoy improving my physical abilities. Before the summer of 2017 I suffered a back injury going for a big deadlift and decided I wanted to find a way to workout that would be more natural. My in-laws introduced me to crossfit and I went to a couple intro classes. The coach explained that all the movements are based on "functional fitness" and the idea isn't to force your body to do something it isn't comfortable doing already. I've been a CrossFitter for a little over a year and I'm hooked.
