My wife Laurie got me started into CrossFit. It was the first fitness program I was ever able to sustain for more than 4 weeks. And here we are 4 YEARS later and I'm loving it more than ever. I got my Level 1 Certification and I coach in a backup role for my gym. I never thought I'd be one to start competing, but here I am making training choices to try to do really well in the Open. CrossFit has certainly changed MY life.


How I Eat

I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount

I eat whatever is convenient

My diet would be much worse if it weren't for my amazing wife Laurie.

How I Train

I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate

I work out 3-4 times a week at standard box times. My success with CrossFit has been based on my own philosophy of simply making sure that I ENJOY the on-going CrossFit experience. I want to make sure that I have fun every time I go to the gym. Because if I have fun, I'll come back. And if I come back then I'll get stronger and more fit. And if I get stronger and more fit then I'll have fun. And if I have fun then I'll keep coming back . . . The other key for me is that I don't let myself get attached to the numbers. I have goals and objectives, but I don't get attached to the results. I let the numbers motivate me and push me, but I don't let them determine how I feel about the workout or about myself. I am my FITNESS - I am NOT my numbers.

My Athletic Background

I played youth or high school level sports

I played college sports

I regularly play recreational sports

I wrestled in High School and in College. Then a bunch of adult beginner Hockey after that. Now I Rock Climb and Paraglide.

My Experience With CrossFit

I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)

I have completed the CrossFit Level 1 certificate course

I have attended one or more specialty courses

I train other people

I owe my introduction to CrossFit to my wife Laurie. She started doing it six months before me. Now it has become a wonderful thing for the two of us to share.
