Athlete: Simon Winterburn
How I Eat
I eat strict Paleo
I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount
I eat 1-3 full cheat meals per week
I eat strict paleo however have a huge appetite and find that measuring meals just means that I'm hungry and have no energy so I eat 5 times a day, 3 large meals and 2 snacks. One day a week however I will have a big cheat meal/day where any cravings I have I give in to.
How I Train
I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate
I record my workouts
I go to Reebok Crossfit Tyneside and do their programmed WOD in the morning class.
My Athletic Background
I played youth or high school level sports
I played college sports
I regularly play recreational sports
I have always participated in sport, playing rugby since 5 years old and representing county level and for my university. I used to swim also and reached the national squad however quit out of boredom of doing length after length. Any opportunity to compete in any sport however I will take.
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit by trying it alone (without a coach)
I started trying to do crossfit style workouts in my gym however found that a lot of the equipment wasnt there and it was impossible when coming off the pull up bar to go do something else and then come back and someone else would be on the bar. I started training at a slow tempo however got bored of spending hours in the gym and not really competing with anything or pushing myself. It got a touch boring.
My Work/Rest Schedule
I do multiple workouts in a day 1x a week
I typically rest fewer than 4 days per month
I try do a WOD in a morning and then work on some kind of strength or movement in the afternoon. I find it hard to take rest days as I get really bored of sitting down not really doing anything and as a student most of my days are like this!!! So if I take a rest day I'll end up going for a run, doing tabatas, a bodyweight WOD in my living room, just anything to pass some time
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Less than 6 months
Been crossfitting for coming up to 3 months now and loving it. Big change of pace from static weightlifting and its a bit different every day so love the variation.
