Spectators at the 2013 Games: More and Better

Additional Silver passes to the 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games will go on sale next week.

The Games will be big this year. Really big.

Not only will the level of competition be unprecedented, but the spectator experience will be improved dramatically. For the first time ever, we will use the soccer stadium for the morning events. Like in past years, the tennis stadium will host the evening events. The stadiums, new and old, will both have bigger Jumbotrons and better sound than ever before.

When not sitting in the stands, fans will be able to get lost in the Vendor Village, which will be four times the size it was last year. This area will include a 15,000-square-foot beer garden with air conditioning and Jumbotrons streaming the events. You'll also find fans throwing down on past Games events like the Big Bob, lectures from CrossFit subject matter experts, lots of shade and places to hang out, and food trucks cooking BBQ, burgers, burritos and caveman-approved meals.

Last year, 9,000 fans packed the tennis stadium and spilled over onto the track. This year, the number could grow to 24,000. That’s right, 24,000. As in a totally sold out soccer stadium.

When the original allotment of tickets sold out in just hours, CrossFit and the StubHub Center worked together on new configurations to the 125-acre campus. We can now let more fans be part of the action, with new seating sections, more Jumbotrons, and an expanded Tent City. More fans will be able to see the action live, and tailgate CrossFit-style all weekend long.

The track will host the Masters on Tuesday, July 23 through Thursday, July 25, and then turn into a massive tent city on Friday through Sunday as fans set up their pop-up tents and claim their territory.

The grass infield and running lanes will be used for spectator workouts, which will include the Big Bob, football sleds, and other Rogue equipment you can only find here. The area outside the lanes will be filled with pop-up tents and be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Fans will be able to watch and listen to the action from their tents as it streams to the nearby Jumbotrons. A second air-conditioned beer garden and set of food trucks will keep the fans in Tent City going.

The best news is that if you don't have tickets yet you'll have a second chance.

Additional Silver passes will go on sale Wednesday, June 19 at 10 a.m. PT, as well as a limited number of Gold passes that are left over from the allotment reserved for Regional qualifiers.

Silver passes will be available for $75 for the multi-day event, and will have access to the soccer stadium, Vendor Village, subject matter expert booths, the CrossFit experience area and fan workout zones.  When action moves into the tennis stadium each day, Silver pass holders will be able to watch the events on Jumbotrons and big screen TVs spread through the village, bars and soccer stadium (kids 12 and under get Silver-level access with a ticketed adult).

Gold passes will be available for $150 and will also include access to the tennis stadium to watch the afternoon and evening events live. Only Gold pass holders will have access to the tennis stadium.

Remember, the last wave sold out in 18 minutes, so be sure log onto the AXS.com site prior to the release.
