I learned about CrossFit for the first time from a triathlon training partner in 2010. It would be almost 2 years before I actually set foot in a CrossFit gym. I was instantly hooked by the deadlifts and burpees. The workouts were challenging, the camaraderie was great and the coaches pushed us to be better. It brought back memories of my time in the Marine Corps. I have been training since 2012 and loved every second of it. With each workout I learn. I learn about my physical capabilities and more importantly my mental capabilities. Each lesson allows me to improve my thought process. “Si se puede”, Yes I can drives me to achieve more each day. Not surprisingly CrossFit has made me the fittest that I have ever been, Marine Corps time included. But, its greatest impact on my life has been outside the box. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM ME • Dedication • Enthusiasm • Perseverance My wife and I were hooked on CrossFit and training every day at our home gym. Soon friends, neighbors and family were joining in the daily WOD. At this point I figured I should learn what I was doing in order to make sure the folks joining in were getting the most out of it and being safe. I got my USAW certification and shortly after completed the L1. I reached out to the owners at Mako Athletics to see if I could intern with them and was luckily welcomed with open arms. Instantly I knew, I want to do this all day, every day. The impact of making healthy lifestyle choices is beyond anything I have experienced before. When we get ready to kick off a WOD I know that every person standing in front me WANTS to be there. I LOVE that, it gives me energy that I want to share with all of the athletes I get to coach. I want to be a part of you reaching higher than you ever thought possible, of breaking down your barriers and being comfortable in the uncomfortable. I GET to be a part of you overcoming challenges, every single day. No Retreat, No Surrender. BACKGROUND I joined the United States Marine Corps straight out of high school in 1997. The next four years of my life would be an education in discipline, commitment, integrity and most importantly grit. The challenges we overcame as Marines had a lasting impact on my mindset since. Every challenge is simply an opportunity to learn. How can we become better than we are and overcome the obstacles placed in our path? Every new challenge even though new and unknown should be seen in the same manner. I know I have overcome obstacles before, this one may be different, but it is still only an obstacle. How do I overcome this one? The search for challenges has brought me to CrossFit. Each workout, each challenge, each day is different. The lessons learned and friendships gained will last a lifetime, come join us.
