WORKOUT DETAILS
QUICK START
- Start each round with your back to the shuttle-run start line.
- At “go,” turn around and complete 10 shuttle runs.
- Each shuttle run repetition is 50 feet (15.24 meters), 25 feet (7.62 meters) down and 25 feet back.
- Then, move to the barbell and complete 10 clean and jerks.
- Finally, complete as many lateral burpees over the bar as possible in the time remaining.
- Athletes MUST complete at least 1 lateral burpee to advance to the next round of the workout.
- Rest exactly 1 minute between rounds, following the timetable on Page 2.
- Complete this same sequence for a total of 5 rounds.
- Your score is the total number of lateral burpees over the bar completed across all 5 rounds.
- The shuttle runs and clean and jerks are NOT recorded on your score submission.
NOTES
- Time does not stop during this workout. Refer to the timetable below for timing details.
- Both feet MUST be on the ground on the other side of the barbell BEFORE time expires for the final rep to count.
- Athletes MUST complete at least 1 lateral burpee to advance to the next round of the workout.
- The shuttle runs and clean and jerks are NOT recorded on your score submission. The submitted score will be the total number of burpees over the bar completed across all 5 rounds.
TIEBREAK
Record the time to complete the final clean and jerk in the fifth (final) round. In the event of a tie on total reps, the athlete with the faster tiebreak time will win the tie.
EQUIPMENT
- Barbell
- Men are required to use a 45-lb (20-kg) barbell.
- Women are required to use a 35-lb (15-kg) barbell.
- Bumper plates measuring 18 inches (45 centimeters) diameter.
- Collars
- Tape must be used to mark the 25-foot (7.62-meter) lines of the shuttle run.
Refer to APPENDIX D in the 2025 CrossFit Games Rulebook for complete equipment details and video submission standards.
PENALTIES
Penalties may be deducted from the athlete’s total score if CrossFit HQ conducts a review of your video. CrossFit will review videos that receive significant public downvotes.
- The following penalties will be added to the athlete’s finishing time:
- False start (facing the start line before “go”) = 2 burpees removed from total score
- Clean and jerk no-rep = 1 burpee removed from total score
- Burpee no-rep = 1 burpee removed from total score
- If an athlete advances before completing the specified number of shuttle runs and/or clean and jerks, no burpees will count during that round.
- For example, the athlete moves to the burpees after rep 7 of the clean and jerks. The athlete’s score will be 0 burpees for the round.
- The next round will begin as written, and the athlete will get credit for any burpees completed during any correctly performed round.
See APPENDIX D in the 2025 CrossFit Games Rulebook for video review penalty information.
TIMETABLE
Athletes MUST use a continuously running timer (counting up) in their video and follow the table below:
-
1 of 11Floor Plan 1 (Solo Athlete): This floor plan option is based on the REQUIRED distances. If an athlete is completing the workout solo, they may place the barbell inside or outside of the 25-foot running lane. Any floor plan that allows for the required distances and full video-capture of each movement may be used.2 of 11Floor Plan 2 (Multiple Athletes): This floor plan option is based on the REQUIRED distances. For safety, if multiple athletes are performing this workout at the same time in the same running lane, barbells may be no closer than 10 feet (3 meters) from the active running area. Any floor plan that allows for the required distances and full video-capture of each movement may be used.3 of 11The Shuttle Run: Both feet begin behind the start line. Both feet must cross the line, AND one hand must touch the ground past the line at every turnaround. Each rep of the shuttle run is credited when the athlete has traveled 25 feet down and 25 feet back. The athlete can simply run past the start/finish line to complete the 10th (final) rep. Each round starts with the athlete standing with their back to the start line.4 of 11Common no-reps for the shuttle run include but are not limited to: Turning around with only one foot across the line. Turning around with one or both feet on the line. Missing the touch of the hand over the line. NOTE: If an athlete gets a no-rep, they must complete the 25-foot section again.5 of 11The Clean and Jerk: Each rep starts with the bar on the ground. The bar must be lifted to the shoulders, then locked out overhead (no snatches). Any style of clean, except a hang clean, is permitted. Full extension of the hips and legs is NOT required after receiving the clean before starting the overhead lift. Any style of overhead lift is acceptable (press, push press, or jerk/split jerk).6 of 11The rep is credited when: Hips, knees, and arms are extended. The feet are in line. The bar is over or behind the middle of the body when viewed from the side. NOTES: Athletes must face the camera when performing clean and jerks. If multiple athletes are performing this workout at the same time, barbells may be no closer than 10 feet from the active running lane.7 of 11Common no-reps for the clean and jerk include but are not limited to: Lowering the barbell before fully extending the hips, knees, or arms. Lowering the barbell before the feet have returned in line. Finishing with the bar in front of the body. Bouncing the barbell between consecutive repetitions. If multiple athletes are performing this workout at the same time, any rep completed with the barbell closer than 10 feet to the active running lane will NOT count.8 of 11NOTE: In the event of a no-rep for any reason at any time, the entire clean and jerk MUST be repeated. A missed overhead lift may NOT be reattempted from the front-rack position.9 of 11Lateral Burpee Over the Bar: Start on one side of the barbell. The chest and thighs must touch the floor at the bottom of each rep. A strict lateral orientation is NOT required. Athletes may face the bar during the burpee or the jump. Return to both feet with the hands off the floor.10 of 11Jumping or stepping in and out of the bottom of the burpee is permitted. The athlete must jump over the barbell (both feet must be off the ground). A two-foot takeoff or a two-foot landing is NOT required. The rep is credited when the athlete is on the opposite side of the barbell.11 of 11Common no-reps for the lateral burpee over the bar include but are not limited to: Chest and/or thighs not touching the ground. Stepping over the barbell. Making contact with the bar (tripping) as you jump over. NOTE: If a no-rep is given for any reason, the athlete must repeat the entire burpee, starting on either side of the barbell.
