"I'm in shock still," Gillespie says. "I've tried [to make it to the Games] a couple of years and I've kind of gotten comfortable with taking 3rd--or even less."
Going into the final Regional Workout in 3rd place, Gillespie knew she had to "turn it up a notch."
She succeeded, finishing the workout in 17:21--just eleven seconds behind the leader Angie Pye and 2:22 ahead of third place finisher Emily Beers.

For the first time, Gillespie has qualified for the CrossFit Games. She and Angie Pye will represent Canada West in Carson, Calif.
