Skyline CrossFit After Hurricane Harvey

Hurricane Harvey dumped more than 19 trillion gallons of water on the state of Texas and looks to be one of the most damaging natural disaster in U.S. history. The impact was far reaching and included many CrossFit affiliates.

People from all over the world rallied to support those in need. The hurricane brought many together, and in the CrossFit community, the strong showed that they are even stronger when united for a common cause.

During Week 3 of the Open, Skyline CrossFit played host to the live announcement of 18.3, and the community got an up-close look at Houston and the surrounding area’s progress toward recovery.

"I don't think you fully realize how powerful and how tight-knit the community is until times of crisis like this," said Aja Barto, former Games athlete and owner of CrossFit Behemoth in Cypress, Texas.

"When the community just kinda rushes in at a moment’s notice to kinda take care of the problem, all that shared suffering in the CrossFit gym gets displayed in a different way," said Dan Bailey, five-time CrossFit Games athlete.
