Sanna Venäläinen, See You at the CrossFit Games

Oh, what a Games feeling.

Sanna Venäläinen was the runner-up to Finland’s National Champions in the 2020 CrossFit Open. Last weekend, the 29-year-old from CrossFit Vantaa traveled to Gol, Norway, to compete in the Norwegian CrossFit Championship, the first Sanctionals™ event held in Scandinavia.

It was a close points race all weekend involving Gabriela Migała, Andrea Solberg, Jacqueline Dahlstrøm, Rebecka Vitesson, Erica Ekelund, Filippa Ferm, and Jóhanna Júlía Júlíusdóttir. Poland’s Migała and Norway’s Solberg, both of whom have already earned their spots at the Games, locked up first and second overall. Migała is Poland’s National Champion and Solberg was dominant at the CrossFit Filthy 150 in Ireland.

The Games invite came down to the final day of the competition and the final event of the NCC. Venäläinen’s consistency held off a hard-charging comeback from Dahlstrøm and the rest of the field to clinch the coveted Games invite, captured at this moment.

See you at the CrossFit Games, Venäläinen.
