CrossFit Games Behind the Scenes: Friday, Part 2

Catch insights, strategies and comedic performances from athletes before and after workouts at the 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games in this second installment of Sevan Matossian’s Behind the Scenes series.

“You people are sick for enjoying this,” defending champ Rich Froning Jr. says as he rolls around on the grass after finishing the Track Triplet that included bar muscle-ups and split snatches.

“You know the reason why I really do what I do is to show glory in what I do because right before every workout you’re like, ‘Why am I doing this?’ And then when you finish … you realize, ‘All right, that’s why I do it … it inspires some people.’ So it’s pretty cool.”

CrossFit Founder and CEO Greg Glassman talks about the amazing CrossFit community in an impromptu interview, and so-called “Teen Wolf” Lucas Parker explains his facial hair.

“It’s sort of like my Games-season kinda beard,” he says. “I’ve got a shave scheduled for Aug. 11.”

Meanwhile, original Nasty Girl Annie Sakamoto nominates Canadian athlete Angie Pye for the “goofy award.”

“And that’s saying a lot,” Sakamoto adds. “I’m a goofball.”
