Born to lift weights! Started my journey in 1984 when our gym teacher showed us a bench press, weights and a barbell. Continued on through middle school and high school lifting, wrestling and playing football. There was something unique back then with football and lifting. It was a close community that loved to play sports and lift heavy stuff together as a team. I left high school and missed those people terribly. Almost 20 years later, I discovered CrossFit and it completely changed my life. I was blessed enough to find and be coached by one of the heaviest oly lifters world wide, Marco Coppola. An amazing college football player, coach, crossfitter, USAW, NPGL Miami Surge athlete, Barbell Club owner, CrossFit OverTake owner, awesome person and true friend. I am so fortunate to find CrossFit, a sport I am incredibly passionate about and love! I was also fortunate enough to participate in the 2015 USAW Olympic Weightlifting Qualifier. All those hours for six lifts??? It was worth every minute and was truly an honor to be under such an amazing coach (Marco.) I have an amazing wife and two awesome kiddos. I also have a Mom and Dad that stand beside me and cheer me on in everything I do. I was grateful that my Dad at close to 75 years old was able to come down in 2014 for one short Saturday and watch me lift with the great people at CrossFit OverTake. I think he took a piece of joy with him when he left the box and understood why I do this up to 6 days a week. Because of scheduling I have joined a new & awesome box. I miss my CrossFit OverTake family a ton and will stop in there every chance I get. Sometimes God puts you in places for a reason. I landed at CrossFit S5 which just opened in June 2016. It's a smaller box, just beginning but as with any box, they have tremendous coaches and such an amazing group of people. I get almost the same reward from helping people out as I do from lifting. It doesn't matter what box I go to, I will always find remarkable people because this is CrossFit, this is what we do, what we love and what we live for.
