I have been doing crossfit FO just under 3 years. My entire life from an early age until now has been a succession of involvements of one sporting activity to another. High school encompassed wrestling primarily, along with soccer, track and field and gym work. Spending a significant portion of my youth on a farm exposed me to a diverse assortment of hard work. My adult life has followed a similar path, pursuing a variety of athletic endeavours; triathlons, road bike racing, mountain biking, windsurfing, skiing, snowboarding and,of course, a staple of weights and gym training. A close friend introducing me to crossfit has changed everything. On the career side of the ledger, following my passion for aviation, I earned my flying wings in the Canadian Airforce at age 20, where I accumulated 21 years of Regular Force and Reserve service to queen and country. I have spent the last 18 years as an airline pilot and currently fly the Boeing 777. I typically do all my flying between Toronto and Asia. Thanks to the proliferation of crossfit and my enthusiasm for it, I typically search out a crossfit box in the city where I am laying over. Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong to mention a few. What they all share is a passion for the sport and an open arms policy regarding fellow crossfit tears from abroad. The diversity and challenges presented through crossfit are unmatched in any of my previous activities. Nothing has called upon my mental and physical limits or given me the satisfaction from incremental improvements as crossfit has. The friendships established through the cohesive and mutually supportive nature of this sport have made it a way of life.
