I joined CrossFit in April of 2012 and man, what a journey it's been. I started out not being able to do a single pullup and after 6 years CrossFit has helped me in so many ways and I have grown so much over these years. CrossFit helped me kick cancer's ass (Breast Cancer in 2015), have an avenue to compete (very amateur local throwdowns), and stay fit through my pregnancy and delivery (in 2017). My closest friends were formed from sweating it out at the gym together and the lifestyle I lead has evolved into a very healthy and active one thanks to CrossFit. I do the Open each year regardless if I am pregnant, coming back from my fight against cancer or even if I'm totally healthy. There are many reasons I love the Open and think everyone should partake in it. Some of the top reasons are: -You will grow and become a better athlete and human. -You will become closer to your fellow members at your gym as well as fellow crossfit athletes around the world. It's all about the community! -You will learn the amazing feats that the human body can accomplish when you watch the top Crossfitters do the same workouts you are doing. As well as the amazing feats your own body can do. My greatest joy each year has been watching people (myself included) get your first Toe 2 Bar, or your first Muscle Up. -And so many more reasons! Besides CrossFit, I love to be outdoors with my husband, daugher and dog in the Idaho mountains we live in. From hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, Crossfit and many other activities it's hard to get a rest day in!
