I found CrossFit in 2008 after I had my fourth baby. I first started it to try and get into shape and lose all the weight I gained from college and having children. After having 4 c sections I found that CrossFit was way better at getting me in shape and strengthening my core than running as I did in the past.
After two years of CrossFit I entered my first competition which was the Mountain sectionals in 2010. Once I qualified for regionals I knew this was something I would grow to be competitive in and love.
Crossfit has not only changed my life but it has also changed my family's life. We even turned part of our garage into a CrossFit gym.
After breaking my arm in the middle of the 2013 open I was determined to come back stronger and better for 2014. Made that happen and was one of the older athletes to qualify for Regionals. At the age of 38, Competing at the regional level as an individual was an amazing experience. However, during my training I experienced a lot of neck and shoulder pain. Found out after the open I had a torn rotator cuff and had surgery in 2015. Coming back from major shoulder surgery has taught me so much about my body and myself. In the past two years I discovered all sorts of hormone imbalances, adrenal fatigue and have been learning how to overcome that by proper diet, rest and not over training. With the help of some great coaches I'm slowly getting on the right track. This year my focus is to train smart. I'm excited to finally compete as a masters athlete as I've been competing in this sport since 2010 against women almost half my age!
