Armand McCormick and Megan John sealed 1st on Workout 12.3.

At the end of Week 3, it looks like experience has paid off in the North Central Region. There are virtually no unknowns in the top of any category, and many of the athletes who performed well Weeks 1 and 2 have dropped significantly.

The top three men and top three women overall after Week 3 were all in the top 10 at the 2011 North Central Regional, and three of them competed at the 2011 Games.

MEN

For a second week, Games veteran Brandon Pastorek is in 1st place overall in the North Central Region and 11th in the world with an impressive score of 466 on 12.3. Another 2011 Games competitor, Phillip Kniep, has moved into 3rd place in the North Central with the region’s second best on 12.3 of 467. Former Division 1 football player Justin Allen is in 2nd in the North Central and 17th worldwide. Armand McCormick, who also competed at the 2011 Games, scored one more rep than Kniep on 12.3 and is in 45th place overall.

WOMEN

With the top score in the North Central of 468, Megan John moves back into our region’s top spot and is tied for 9th in the world. She takes the lead from Kelley Jackson who has not been outside the top three so far. With consistent top finishes, 2011 Games competitor Deborah Cordner Carson rounds out the top three.

“I didn't worry at all about time. I just focused lessening my rest time and doing whatever I could to keep it moving. It was a pacing workout. Not a sprint,” Carson says. It seems like her strategy paid off.

TEAM

The top three teams from last week remained the same with the exception of CrossFit Omaha and CrossFit Jenks swapping 2nd and 3rd place. For the third week in a row QCCF Awesome is in 1st place in the North Central.

Similar to the individual competition, experience has paid off so far for the teams. Both CrossFit Omaha and Team QCCF competed at the 2011 North Central Regional, with CFO moving on to the Games.

MASTERS

Last year’s Women’s 55-59 Masters Champion Shelley Noyce has moved in to 3rd place worldwide with a score of 356 on 12.3. Men’s Masters 55-59 competitor Denny Hawkins is in second place worldwide with 372 reps on 12.3.

Familiar names are starting to take over the top of the Leaderboard, but it’s much too early to count anyone out.  Just because you’re in the lead doesn’t mean you can get comfortable.
