The format and all but one of the team events have been announced.

CrossFit just announced the format and all but one of the events of the 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games Team Competition.

For the first time, all six team members will compete in every event. There’s no hiding a weak link.

Like last year, teams get points for their finishing order and the most points wins. The same 100-point scoring table will be used for most events. There will also be a 50-point scoring table. In some events, the genders are split, with each gender earning separate scores from the 50-point table. For full details, see the Scoring Page.

And, just like last year, the Team Competition is made up of two parts. All 43 teams will compete in eight events over two days to earn one of just six invites to Sunday’s Final Event. There, the slates will be wiped clean, and in one epic test, the top teams will race to stand atop the podium.

For the second year in a row, the Final is pure old-school CrossFit. The top six teams will face The Girls: Elizabeth, Fran, Isabel, Grace, Diane and Karen. The women take on the first three and the men the final three. The fastest team through all six Girls takes the title, no matter what place they were in at the end of Saturday’s qualifying round.

The stakes are huge and the battle will be fierce.

In 2011, CrossFit New England took the title after finishing in 23 minutes and 49 seconds. CFNE pushed the limit with top times on each of the girls (see Mel Ockerby's 2:38 Fran). The next best team, Front Range CrossFit, followed nearly three and a half minutes behind. The question stands - can any team beat CrossFit New England's time in 2012?

All released events will be posted to the Workout Page. Check there often, as that page will be updated throughout the week. We’ll have an article detailing the announcement of the remaining workout, but the Workout Page will always have the complete listings of all events.
