Get the official word on Open Workout 12.1.

The CrossFit community has come out in record-breaking numbers.

Five million burpees later, Workout 12.1 is in the books.

More than 68,500 athletes have registered to compete in the 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games Open. The CrossFit community has come out in record-breaking numbers, more than doubling the participation in 2011.

With more competitors than ever before, we’re seeing some new names at the top of the Leaderboard.

Unknowns Danila Shokhin (Russia) and Scott Panchik (Central East, USA) posted the world’s best male performances with 161 burpees in just seven minutes.

Although we’re seeing new names, some vets are holding on tight to the top spots.

2010 CrossFit Games champion and last year’s 2nd place finisher, Kristan Clever (Southern California, USA), has returned to the top of the worldwide standings with 143 burpees.

2011 CrossFit Games champions, Annie Thorisdottir and Rich Froning, took 42nd (128 burpees) and 34th (141 burpees), respectively, in the worldwide standings for Open Workout 12.1.
