The Forte family is in it together.

CrossFit means many different things to many different people. However, two themes are prominent: community paired with family and fitness.

CrossFit strives to promote fitness for life and there is one Australian CrossFit family, with multiple generations of competitive CrossFitters, who have taken this concept to the elite level.

Meet the Fortes.

Rob Forte is well known throughout the CrossFit community, with a 30th place finish at the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games. He is currently the No. 1 CrossFit athlete in Australia, and with Regionals looming, Rob is a favorite to return to the Games this year.

His mother, Nella Forte, just missed out on a spot in the 2012 CrossFit Games, finishing 22nd in the CrossFit Open Masters Division. Nella is an inspiration to watch, consistently matching the ability of men and women 20 to 30 years her junior. As her confidence increases and technique improves, Nella is tipped to be knocking on the door of the top 10 in 2013.

Deana Forte, the youngest in the family, also qualified for the 2012 Australian Regionals, although, she is opting to participate in the team competition with her box, CrossFit Albury Wodonga. She and her fiancé Cobi Head own the box together. Head also had a strong showing in the CrossFit Games Open this year, finishing in 44th place.

And finally we have Ross Forte. He didn’t make the cut in his Masters division, but often competes in local competitions and says he likes to think he is the reason his children do so well.

When you see this family of CrossFitters, you can’t help but be driven to do better, to try harder or push further because the benefits are measurable. The Fortes have created a beautiful balance of the CrossFit principles by mixing the pursuit of elite fitness, fitness for life, business, family and love. As coaches, they promote these ideals to their clients everyday.

Through their networks, they are also a large part of the reason why CrossFit is becoming so successful in Australia. Rob’s box, CrossFit Frankston and CrossFit Albury Wodonga, are growing at consistent rates, producing some of the top local and Regional athletes in Australia.

Meanwhile, Ross and Nella continue to inspire those around them by competing many local competitions, showcasing a high level of athleticism later in life. This family is constantly promoting the CrossFit philosophy in all they do.

The Fortes are pioneering how future families might hold each other accountable for their own health and how they choose to live, in relation to their potential. Although CrossFit means many different things to many different people, to this group it means family and elite fitness for life across multiple generations.
