"The biggest thing I learned from Regionals is that I still had some fine-tuning to do on my mental game.”

With the Canada East Regional behind her, Michele Letendre is filling in her training gaps to prepare for the Games.

Letendre, who earned her third trip to the Games this year, thinks she’s just starting to figure herself out.

“The biggest thing I learned from Regionals is that I still had some fine-tuning to do on my mental game,” Letendre says. “But overall, I’m really starting to know myself as an athlete and the outcome of the competition was pretty much what I expected.”

Letendre has also learned that the best preparation is broad and inclusive.

“I’m working a lot on agility, speed and just trying to grind out a lot of volume,” Letendre says.

“I have a second coach that helps me out with my jumping, running and all that. But mainly, I’m just working out a lot.”

Letendre is looking forward to the Games, yet again.

“I want to have fun this year. The preparations for Regionals was hard, but once the actual weekend started, I felt much more relaxed and I enjoyed it and I hope the same thing happens at the Games.”

“My goal is to make it to the final day and to give 100 percent every single event.”

Letendre has put in a lot of training between the 2012 and 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games, and she’s eager to test herself.

“I got stronger and addressed weaknesses, so I think I’m more complete as an athlete,” she says.

“But hey, I bet something is going to come up that I haven’t thought of. I’ve learned that no matter how well prepared we are, Castro will find ways to beat us down.”
