CrossFit

Customize your Open experience to track your fitness alongside any pool of athletes you'd like.

It all starts here.

Your journey to a healthier life, your path to becoming a CrossFit trainer, or your dream of becoming a CrossFit Games athlete all start in the gym. And there’s no better time to check in on those goals than in the CrossFit Open.

The Open brings the community together in the largest fitness event in the world, all to remind us of why we started and how far we’ve come.

If you want to see how you stack up against hundreds of thousands of other athletes in the Open, sign up now and get ready to start refreshing the leaderboard on Feb. 24.

But if the spotlight feels a little hot on that global stage, or if you really just want to see whether you can beat the other athletes in your 5 o’clock class, there are lots of ways to customize your experience and track your progress with a smaller pool of athletes.

By filtering the leaderboard with hashtags or building your own custom leaderboard with your closest friends, you can create the experience you want.

The Worldwide Leaderboard

When you register for the 2022 Open, you will be placed on the worldwide leaderboard for your division.

New this year: You won't need to wait for your affiliate manager to validate your score for it to show up on the leaderboard. Within a few minutes of submitting your score through your competition dashboard, you'll be able to see how you've ranked in the current standings.

Once your score posts, you’ll be able to filter the leaderboard so you can see your rank overall in your division, or by continent, by country, or within your affiliate.

If you’d like to refine your search further, you can use the hashtag feature or create a custom leaderboard.

Hashtags

Using the Hashtag Wizard or your competition dashboard, you can add hashtags to filter the leaderboard to find athletes just like you. Adding a hashtag identifies you within a group that can be accessed at any time.

Are you a dog mom? Add #dogmom to your profile. Want to see how many people are competing in the Open for the first time? Look for #firstopen. You can combine as many hashtags as you’d like to narrow down the leaderboard.

Note: Country, state, and territory hashtags are assigned to your profile automatically so you can see how you stack up in your area.

The Open

The Occupational Games

The Occupational Games provide another way to customize your Open experience by allowing you to compete with other athletes within the same profession.

This year, athletes in eight different professions — some focused on self-improvement and some on helping others — can work to earn the title of the fittest in their occupation:

  • Active-duty military
  • Military veterans
  • Law-enforcement officers
  • Firefighters
  • First responders (e.g., paramedics, emergency medical technicians)
  • Medical professionals (e.g., physicians, nurses)
  • Educators (e.g., professors, school teachers, tutors, school administrators)
  • College students

To enter the Occupational Games all you need to do is identify yourself with one of the occupations in your athlete profile during registration.

Then, once the Open starts, you’ll be able to track your place on the leaderboard for your profession by filtering with the following official hashtags:

  • Active-duty military = #activedutymilitary
  • Military veteran = #militaryveteran
  • Law enforcement officer = #lawenforcementofficer
  • Firefighter = #firefighter
  • First responder = #firstresponder
  • Medical professional = #medicalprofessional
  • Educator = #educator
  • College student = #collegestudent

Build a Custom Leaderboard

If you’d like to see where you land within a smaller sample size, custom leaderboards are the way to go.

Often, the rankings we care about most are those between ourselves and our closest friends, and custom leaderboards let you manually add those you’d like to track. That list may include that guy who goes to the evening classes at your gym and always posts one more rep than you on the WOD, or it may include Mal O’Brien and Saxon Panchik. It’s up to you!

Through your athlete profile, you can build your own leaderboard and track your scores against anyone you choose.

Here’s how:

  1. To create a custom leaderboard click here (make sure you’re logged in to your athlete profile).
  2. Build your custom leaderboard by typing the name of whoever you’d like to add. Or — if most of your friends come from your affiliate — save time by looking up your affiliate’s name and adding the affiliate’s roster. You can choose to add the entire affiliate, or limit it to, say, women between the ages of 28 and 32.
  3. When you’re done building, click “Save and View.” You can come back and edit at any time.

Your custom leaderboard will rank all of the athletes relative to each other based on their scores on the Open workouts. Plus, you can always share a custom leaderboard with your friends so they can follow along.

It all starts on Thursday, Feb. 24. Get ready to celebrate some milestones. We’ll see you on the leaderboard!
