Last year marked an important milestone in the evolution and growth of the CrossFit Games with the addition of two new age groups and eight new adaptive divisions. This year will bring exciting new opportunities for competitive athletes and fans alike — so stay tuned for updates. 

To kick things off, here are the important dates for all stages of the 2022 season so you can start planning your workout schedules and watch parties now.

The Path to the Games

The 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games season will begin with the worldwide NOBULL CrossFit Games Open on Feb. 24, 2022. Open registration starts Jan. 13, 2022.

For athletes across all divisions, the Open will be the first step toward qualification for the 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games. This year’s Open once again will be a three-week competition.

New in 2022: The competition season for the age group and adaptive divisions has been modified to more closely mirror the stages of the individual competition. 

Here’s an overview of the path to the finals for each division:

Individuals:

Top 10% from each continental region will advance to the online Quarterfinals

North America: Top 120 advance
Europe: Top 60 advance
Oceania: Top 30 advance
Asia: Top 30 advance
South America: Top 30 advance
Africa: Top 30 advance

North America*: Top 5 advance
Europe*: Top 5 advance
Oceania: Top 3 advance
Asia: Top 2 advance
South America: Top 2 advance
Africa: Top man and woman advance
Last-Chance Qualifer: Top 2 men and top 2 women advance

Top 40 athletes will compete for the title of Fittest on Earth

* Four North American Semifinal competitions — 20 advancing athletes total from the region

** Two EU Semifinal competitions — 10 advancing athletes total from the region

Top 38 teams will compete for the title of Fittest on Earth

Age Group Divisions:

Age groups: 14-15, 16-17, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+

The top 10% from each age-group division will advance to the Age-Group Quarterfinal.

The top 30 from each age group will advance to the Age-Group Semifinal.

The top 10 from each age group will advance to the 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games.

The top 10 from each age group will compete for the title of Fittest on Earth.

Adaptive Divisions: 

The divisions:

  • Men and Women Adaptive: Upper Extremity
  • Men and Women Adaptive: Lower Extremity
  • Men and Women Adaptive: Neuromuscular
  • Men and Women Adaptive: Vision
  • Men and Women Adaptive: Seated Athletes With Hip Function
  • Men and Women Adaptive: Seated Athletes Without Hip Function
  • Men and Women Adaptive: Short Stature
  • Men and Women Adaptive: Intellectual

The Open

Semifinals

CrossFit Games

The top 20 athletes from each adaptive division will advance to the virtual Adaptive Semifinal.

The fittest will be crowned in the Vision, Intellectual, Seated With Hip Function, Seated Without Hip Function, and Short Stature divisions.
 

The top 5 athletes from the Neuromuscular, Lower Extremity, and Upper Extremity divisions will advance to the 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games.

The top 5 athletes from the Neuromuscular, Lower Extremity, and Upper Extremity divisions will compete for the title of Fittest on Earth.
