2018 Live Open Announcement Venues and Athletes

The venues for the 2018 live Open announcements have been released.

Starting Thursday, Feb. 22, at 5 p.m. PT, the workouts for the 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games Open will be announced live each week from locations around the world. Shortly after Director of the Games Dave Castro announces the week’s challenge, select athletes will compete in the workout and set the scores to beat. 
 
Week 1: Feb. 22-26, Sponsored by Paleoethics, Sam Briggs vs. Kristin Holte

The 2018 Open will kick off with the announcement of 18.1 at Ginasio Poliesportivo Dr. Antonio Leme Nunes Galvao (Morumbi Stadium) in São Paulo, Brazil. 2013 Games champion Sam Briggs will square off against 2017 seventh-place Games finisher Kristin Holte. Two local athletes will also compete. Tickets to the event are on sale now.  (Sold out Jan. 31.)

Open Workout 18.2 will be announced live from CrossFit R.A.W. in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania. Third-fittest man on Earth Patrick Vellner will compete against Noah Ohlsen, who finished fourth at the 2017 Games.

Week 3: March 8-12, Sponsored by Assault Fitness, Kyle Kasperbauer vs. Neal Maddox

Castro will announce 18.3 from Skyline CrossFit in Houston, Texas. Kyle Kasperbauer, 35, and Neal Maddox, 40, will represent the Masters Division as they go head-to-head in the Lone Star State. 

Week 4: March 15-19, Sponsored by Zevia, Björgvin Karl Guðmundsson vs. Scott Panchik

The fourth workout of the 2018 Open will be announced from CrossFit Fury in Goodyear, Arizona. Björgvin Karl Guðmundsson, who finished fifth at the 2017 Games, will compete against perennial Games athlete and 2017's sixth-place finisher Scott Panchik. 

Week 5: March 22-26, Sponsored by ROMWOD, Annie Thorisdottir vs. Sara Sigmundsdottir vs. Katrin Davidsdottir

The final workout will be announced from CrossFit Reykjavík in Reykjavík, Iceland, and it will be the battle of the Dottirs. With two Fittest on Earth titles under their belts, Annie Thorisdottir and Katrin Davidsdottir will compete against each other and 2017 Games fourth-place finisher Sara Sigmundsdottir.
