ADAPTIVE ELIGIBILITY UPDATE

Updated on April 18th

On Friday, April 14, the CrossFit Games announced that the winning and advancing athletes in all Adaptive divisions had been finalized. At that time athletes who were determined to be ineligible, and who occupied advancing or winning positions, were notified that they were removed from the leaderboard.

Following that announcement, the CrossFit Games was contacted by athletes who were concerned that the results contained errors. These allegations were investigated and the team identified there were errors. Determining the winning and advancing athletes is a multistep, manual process. A combination of misrouted work and human error during these manual processes led to inaccuracies on the advancing athletes in the Multi-Extremity division.

  • In one instance, an appeal filed during the competition was overlooked resulting in an erroneous “0 score”. When the appeal was investigated it was granted in the athlete’s favor.
  • In a second instance an athlete’s eligibility status was recorded incorrectly. After the mistake was found the athlete’s eligibility status and scores were reinstated.

On Monday, April 17, we were able to correct the mistakes that were made and notify the athletes who were affected. We sincerely apologize for the frustration that this situation has caused.

For awareness the adaptive leaderboard will shift again when all ineligible athletes will be removed.
