Rookie Khrennikov Unable to Attend 2018 Games

July 19, 2018

Earlier today Roman Khrennikov, a Russian rookie CrossFit Games qualifier, announced that he will be unable to attend the 2018 Games after being denied on his U.S. visa application. Khrennikov released this statement on his Instagram:

"Dear friends, I thank you for your strong support! For your desire to help me! Unfortunately, I cannot go to CrossFit Games. I'll lie, if I say that I was not upset. But these circumstances do not depend on me. I did everything possible, I proved to myself and to you that it's real to get into (the) Games. So we are preparing for the season (in) 2019!"

Justin Bergh, General Manager of the CrossFit Games commented on Khrennikov's status: “We’ve supported the efforts to get Roman to Madison on multiple fronts. He earned the spot, and it will remain his.”

The 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games will be held Aug. 1-5 in Madison, Wisconsin. Stay tuned for updates, coverage and releases.
