  • Event 1 - Pier Paddle

    Location: Hermosa Beach Pier
    Wednesday morning

    Swim 500 meters
    Paddle 2 miles
    Swim 500 meters

    Athletes begin on the beach and will swim 500 meters around the pier then return to the beach to grab paddle boards. They will then return to the water and paddle south for 1 mile, turn around, and paddle back the 1 mile where they will return to the boards to the beach. They will then swim around the pier again, climb out of the water and cross the finish line.

    Time cap: 60 minutes

     
  • Event 2 - Sandbag 2015

    Wednesday evening

    For time:
    Move 720 / 480 lb. of sandbags across the stadium

    Men move 4 100-lb. bags and 4 80-lb. bags
    Women move 4 70-lb. bags and 4 50-lb. bags

    Athletes begin on the stadium floor and will run to the top of the stairs on the north side of the stadium, then must move all the sandbags down the stairs, across the stadium floor, up the wall and to the top of the stairs on the south side of the stadium. Each athlete will have access to a wheelbarrow to use in moving the bags across the floor. The event is complete when all bags have been piled on the opposite side of the stadium.

    Time cap: 15 minutes

     
  • Event 1 - Water Worm

     

    Event 1 - Water Worm

    Points Available: 100 points
    Location: Hermosa Beach Pier
    Wednesday morning

    For time of:
    75 Worm deadlifts
    500-yard swim with rescue sled
    50 Worm deadlifts
    500-yard swim with rescue sled
    25 Worm deadlifts

    Teams will begin by performing 75 deadlifts with the Worm. They will then run under the pier to their rescue sleds, and swim the sled around the pier and back to the beach. They will then perform 50 deadlifts with the Worm, swim the sled back around the pier, and finish with another 25 deadlifts with the Worm. The event is complete once the last deadlift rep is complete and the entire team crosses the finish line.

    The Worm weighs 435 lb. total and is made up of 80-65-75-60-70-55-lb. sections (front to back) with 6-lb. filler bags between each section.

    Time cap: 55 minutes

     

  • Event 2 - 6-Mile Relay

    Team members will run the course one at a time, tagging the next athlete after they finish. The event is complete when the last team member crosses the finish line.

  • Event 3 - Murph

     

    Event 3 - Murph

    Points Available: 100 points
    Location: Soccer Stadium and Stub Hub Center Grounds
    Friday afternoon

    For time, with 20 / 14-lb. of body armor:
    1-mile run
    100 pull-ups
    200 push-ups
    300 squats
    1-mile run

    Each athlete will wear weighted body armor for the duration of the event. Starting in the stadium, athletes will run out through the tunnel, up the loading dock ramp, onto the road and down to the turnaround. They will then run back along the same route to the stadium where they will begin the pull-ups. The athlete will advance forward to the next bar after every 25 reps. Once all 100 pull-ups are complete they will move to the push-ups, advancing every 50 reps, then will move the squats, advancing after every 75 reps. The event ends with another 1-mile run along the same route, with time stopping when the athlete crosses the finish line in the stadium.

  • Event 4 - Snatch Speed Ladder

    Similar to last year's Clean Speed Ladder, this event will be broken into 3 rounds: Quarterfinal, Semifinal and Final. Athletes will be ranked by their time to complete each ladder or by the heaviest weight snatched.

  • Event 3 - Earth Worm

     

    Event 3 - Earth Worm

    Points Available: 100 points
    Location: Soccer Stadium
    Friday morning

    For time:
    Run 600 meters
    25 Worm squats 
    Run 600 meters
    50 Worm squats
    Run 600 meters
    75 Worm squats

    Teams will begin on the stadium floor and will run a lap up and over the berm. Once the entire team has returned to their Worm they will pick it up and perform 25 squats, advancing forward midway through. They will then set the Worm down and begin the run for the second round. In Round 2, they will perform 50 squats, advancing midway through, and in Round 3 they will perform 75 squats, advancing midway through the reps. The event is complete when the last rep of the Worm squat is complete and the team crosses the finish line.

    The Worm weighs 435 lb. total and is made up of 80-65-75-60-70-55-lb. sections (front to back) with 6-lb. filler bags between each section.

  • Events 4, 5 & 6 - Synchros

     

    Events 4, 5 & 6 - Synchros

    Points Available: 3 50-point events

    Friday morning

    For time, each pair will complete a couplet of:
    545-lb. partner deadlifts (275 lb. + 45-lb. barbell + 225 lb.)
    Synchronized bar muscle-ups

    Synchros 21: MF pair 1 completes 21 reps
    Synchros 14-7: MF pair 2 completes 14-7 reps
    Synchros 8-7-6: MF pair 3 completes 8-7-6 reps

    This event begins with the first male/female pair performing 21 deadlifts then advancing to the rig to perform 21 synchronized bar muscle-ups. Once the first pair completes their final muscle-ups they will cross the finish line to finish the event. Once all teams have finished Synchros 21, the next pair of athletes will line up and begin Synchros 14-7, performing in the same fashion, but with the reps broken into two sets of 14 and 7. The third pair will perform Synchros 8-7-6, with the reps being broken into three sets of 8, 7 and 6.

    Synchros 21, 14-7 and 8-7-6 will be scored as three separate events.

    Sprint north through obstacle course (Sprint Course 1)

    Sprint south through obstacle course (Sprint Course 2)

    In this event, athletes will sprint across the soccer stadium through a series of obstacles (Sprint Course 1), rest briefly, reset, and then sprint back the opposite direction through the course (Sprint Course 2). The athlete’s scores will be their times for each sprint, scored as separate events. Athletes will receive a 2-second penalty if they knock over a hurdle.

  • Event 8 - Soccer Chipper

    Saturday afternoon

    For time:
    100-ft. Pig flip (560 / 395 lb.)
    4 legless rope climbs
    100-ft. handstand walk

    Athletes will begin by flipping the Pig halfway across the field to the rig, where they will then perform 4 legless rope climbs. They will then proceed to the handstand walk, which will be divided into 50-ft. sections. Each section must be completed unbroken, without the athlete coming back down to their feet. If the athlete comes down from their hands they must return to the start of that section. The event is complete when the athlete finishes the last section of handstand walking.

    Time cap: 12 minutes

     
  • Event 9 - Clean and Jerk

    Athletes will have two 20-second windows to perform a max clean and jerk, rotating through with only one athlete lifting at a time.

    15-10-6 reps for time of:

    Thrusters (165 / 115 lb.)

    Bar muscle-ups
     

    Athletes will complete 15 thrusters, then 15 bar muscle-ups, 10 thrusters and 10 bar muscle-ups, then 6 thrusters and 6 bar muscle-ups. After each round, the athlete will advance the barbell forward to the next rep mat. The event is complete when the athlete finishes their last bar muscle-up and crosses the finish line.

  • Events 7 & 8 - Clean and Jerk

    Event 9 - Male Chipper: MMM
    Event 10 - Female Chipper: FFF

    The three male athletes will perform Event 9, then the three females will perform Event 10. The event begins with all three athletes lunging the Slug (similar to the Worm) down the field. Each athlete will then perform 40 wall-ball shots, then will each handstand walk 100 feet (broken into 50-foot unbroken sections). They will then each complete another 40 wall-ball shots, and finish by lunging the Slug down the field and over the finish line.

    Men’s Slug consists of three 100-lb. sections
    Women’s Slug consists of three 75-lb. sections

  • Event 11 - Big Bob Drag Race

    300-ft. Big Bob push (150 down, 150 back)

     

    Teams will push the Big Bob sled 150 ft. down the field, turn around, and push it back 150 ft. and across the finish line.

  • Event 11 - MIdline Madness

    Sunday morning

    6 rounds for time of:
    400-meter run
    50-ft. yoke carry (380 / 300 lb.)

    Athletes will begin on the field and will complete 6 rounds of a lap up the stadium berm and a 50-ft. yoke carry. The event is complete when the athlete carries the yoke across the finish line of the last section.

    Time cap: 25 minutes

     
  • Event 12 - Pedal to the Metal 1

    For time:

    3 peg board ascents

    8 dumbbell squat snatches (100 / 70 lb.)

     

    Athletes will move through stations of each exercise. The event is complete when the athlete finishes the last rep of the dumbbell squt snatch and crosses the finish line.

     

    Athletes will have a brief rest before resetting and beginning Pedal to the Metal 2.

     

    Time cap: 6 minutes

    This event will begin just after completing Pedal to the Metal 1.

    Athletes will move through stations of each exercise. The event is complete when the athlete finishes the last rep of the kettlebell deadlift and crosses the finish line.

  • Events 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 & 18 - Solo Sprints

    Sunday afternoon

    Solo Sprint 1 (F1) and Solo Sprint 2 (M1)

    Solo Sprint 3 (F2) and Solo Sprint 4 (M2)

    Each of the six chippers will be separate events, each worth 50 points, with each team member completing the chipper. Females will perform Solo Sprint 1, Solo Sprint 3 and Solo Sprint 5, while the males will perform Solo Sprint 2, Solo Sprint 4 and Solo Sprint 6.

    Time cap: 4 minutes per section

    Event 19 will be announced after the final team member completes Solo Sprint 6.

    50 Worm clean and jerks

    Each team will complete 50 clean and jerks with the worm, advancing forward after every 10 reps. The event is over when the team completes the last rep and crosses the finish line.
