Bill Grundler discusses his strategy for the remainder of the SoCal Regional competition and talks about his decision to go Individual instead of Masters this year.
"My current feeling inside is that I don't want to do the Masters because I'm just not ready ... that's not why I'm doing the CrossFit stuff," Grundler says. "I want to know where I fit with everyone. This is, for me, a better showcasing of that."
CrossFit Games veteran Valerie Voboril won the 100s Chipper on Day 2 of the SoCal Regional. Before the event began, Voboril got some motivation from 2010 Games champ Kristan Clever.
But that wasn't all she was thinking about as she became one of the few women to finish. "My other motivation is the sooner I'm done, the sooner I can be with my baby," she said after the event.
After four events, Voboril sits in first place in SoCal.
Longtime competitor Dave Lipson is competing this year in the SoCal Region. After first-place finishes on the Overhead Squat Complex and the Deadlift/Box jump events, he's sitting in 13th place in the region.
The 2013 SoCal Regional is over and while many athletes are back to training as usual, Games qualifiers are preparing for the toughest stage of competition in Carson, Calif. Watch the Regional wrap-up here.
