It takes dozens upon dozens of staff and volunteers to pull off a CrossFit Games Regional competition. At this year’s Europe Regional, the demands were even greater as the final event was broadcast live to a host of countries on Eurosport.
All told, there were seven cameras tied to an on-site television truck, plus several other cameras working independently.
“It’s outrageous,” Games commentator Rory McKernan says with a wide smile. “CrossFit fans are spoiled. There’s so much to watch.”
In this video, meet the people who make the Regional go off without a hitch — from the event director to the men and woman who set up the barbells and tear down the rigs at the end of the day.
Also, learn about how two-time Games champion Annie Thorisdottir once dreamed of becoming a Disney animator and why Sam Briggs, who went on to win both the Regional and the CrossFit Games, just has to go to McDonald’s sometimes.
