Thursday, June 6: Set-up and Athlete Registration

7 a.m. - Event set-up begins.

7 - 9 p.m. Athlete registration at the Richmond Olympic Oval (mandatory)

7:30 p.m. - Volunteer appreciation dinner at the Richmond Olympic Oval

Friday, June 7: First Day of the 2013 Canada West Regional

7:30 a.m. - Team briefing (mandatory)

8:00 a.m. - Individual athlete briefing (mandatory)

Opening ceremony to precede heats.

9 a.m. - Heats start

9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. - Event 1 (Team, Women, Men)

1 - 5:30 p.m. - Event 2/3 (Team 2/3, Women 2/3, Men 2/3)

5:30 p.m. - Heats end

Saturday June 8: Second Day of the Regional

7:30 a.m. - Team briefing (mandatory)

8:00 a.m. - Individual athlete briefing (mandatory)

8:30 a.m. - Heats start

8:30 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. - Event 4 (Team, Women, Men)

3 - 5:50 p.m. - Event 5 (Team, Women, Men)

5:50 p.m. - Heats end

Sunday June 9: Final Day and Awards Ceremony

7:30 a.m. - Team briefing (mandatory)

8:00 a.m. - Individual athlete briefing (mandatory)

8:40 a.m. - Heats start

8:40 a.m. - 12:40 p.m. - Event 6 (Team, Women, Men)

12:55 - 4:40 p.m. - Event 7 (Team, Women, Men)

4:40 p.m. - Heats end

Awards Ceremony to follow after the final heat.

Driving

Traveling south from Vancouver, Richmond can be accessed via Granville Street and the Arthur Laing Bridge, Oak Street or Knight Street. From the south and east Richmond is directly accessible by Highway 99 and Highway 91. Travel time on Highway 99 from the US-Canada border to Richmond is approximately 20 minutes.

Once exiting into Richmond and on Westminster Highway, follow it to Gilbert Road. Proceed one block north on Gilbert Road to Elmbridge Way. Proceed one block west on Elmbridge Way to Hollybridge Way. Follow Hollybridge Way north to its first intersection with River Road. The Oval is located at the northwest corner of the intersection of Hollybridge Way and River Road with entrance off of River Road.

Public Transportation

There is C94 bus service to the Oval beginning September 8, 2009 from the Canada Line Brighouse Station.

Parking

Parking is available underground at the Richmond Oval ($10 per day, or $1.00/hour), and there is free street parking a block away. The host hotel, Hilton Vancouver Airport Hotel, is only a 5-10 minute walk from the venue, and we encourage fans and athletes to consider walking or taking the shuttle.

Venue Information

The Richmond Olympic Oval is a breathtaking venue on the banks of the Fraser River and winner of the Institution of Structural Engineers top award for Sports or Leisure Structures.

Home to long track speed skating during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the Oval offers an inspiring environment for all ages and skill levels to progress towards their own personal podiums. Read more here.

Food

Outside food and drink are allowed at the venue, with the exception of alcohol.

If you're not interested in packing your meals, you'll have plenty of options at the Canada West Regional. At the Oval, there is an artisan cafe that sells gourmet coffee, sandwiches, brick-oven pizza, and various other snacks. On the mezzanine outside, you'll find a food truck that specializes in gluten-free meals. This food truck will serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks throughout the day. Lastly, an outside vendor will sell meals and snacks that are all paleo and organic, including grass-fed beef.
