I was first introduced to Crossfit the summer of 2008 by Kim Malz. At the time, I was working as a step class/boot camp instructor at a local globo gym. Initially, I was not convinced that the “WOD” was enough. I was use to doing 45 minutes of “circuit weights” along with a 60 minute “cardio” class. At the time, I held the view of most women….”only men lift heavy weight and women that do lift heavy weight get big and bulky.” It took me almost a full year to fully commit to doing only crossfit ( I still run 3 - 4 times/week in addition to the WOD!) and even longer to get truly serious about lifting that bar! I am blessed to be surrounded by terrific coaches and CF athletes that I respect and admire. With Crossfit, you are always growing and becoming a stronger athlete. I learn something new everyday I walk into the box. My favorite thing about crossfit is the fact that it is not exclusive. ANYONE can do crossfit. No matter your age, background, fitness level, when the coach yells 3-2-1 GO, EVERYONE is doing the same workout, either Rx’d or scaled to their ability. Watching someone who did not believe they could do something accomplish that very feat gives me greater satisfaction then when I myself succeed at a particular goat. It is so much fun to watch others do things they never thought they could. I am truly thankful that crossfit came into my life. What a blessing!
