Been at Functional strength crossfit since it opened 2 years ago. My outlook on my future changed when I realised that I wasnt making time in life for what I loved, the realisation came from being around top level athletes and like minded individuals. It wasnt until my first crossfit open that I realised I could actually compete with guys far larger than me, ME, a short, small framed dude mixing it up with guys 20+kg heavier than me. First Open workout I did was 12.1 (7 mins of burpees), that was my best WOD by far, placed 49th equal worldwide and I was hooked from that point onwards. I got that taste of competition, it was a rush which I had never experienced before, a drug called Crossfit, engulfing me in its chalked up calloused hands. Never again would I be able to go to the same monotonous job, working for a dream that wasnt mine. This was when I decided to get qualified, something tangible, a higher education to fulfill what was going to be my future, the only future I was willing to accept anymore. I resigned my stressful management position and spent the next 6 months of my weekends in Uni, 8 hours a day, both days of the weekend. It was hectic, but it was worth it. Anyway, Im now in the position where 6 months ago, I was asked to be the first intern at our gym, and then accepted into our gyms competition Squad, heavier trainings, more volume and a serious training atmosphere, no more games. In the past year Ive made more strength gains than ever before, I have a goal to fight for and I will achieve it. I will make the regionals either in a team or individual by next year, that is my promise to myself. If anyone happens to read this then heres a summary of what I want you to know, I am Zane, I am a member of Functional strength crossfit, I am finally living my life, I am acheiving, I am Lifting, I am WODing, I am sacrificing, I am recovering, I am coaching, I am learning...... I am coming, beware, I am Crossfit.
How I Eat
I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount
I eat quality, not strictly paleo or primal, but mostly, however double day trainings 5 times a week requires more than your usual meat and veg sustanance to keep up the energy.
