Amanda Wroten has nonprofit management experience as the Executive Director of the Newport News Green Foundation and Executive Director of the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society, and as the Chief Marketing, Public Relations and Fundraising Officer and Field Director for the Boy Scouts of America, Colonial Virginia Council. Prior to returning to the Boy Scouts, she served as the Public Relations Coordinator for Ferguson/Wolseley North America and the Community Relations Director for the Boy Scouts of America, Colonial Virginia Council where she won numerous national marketing awards and helped manage a $16,000,000 capital campaign. This past year she was part of the team that secured the Boy Scouts of America, Colonial Virginia Council's largest gift ever - $1,000,000.00. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Summa Cum Laude) in Communications and a Master of Arts degree in Humanities from Old Dominion University. She has served as a blog contributor for the James River Journal and has worked with numerous nonprofit, for profit, and government clients in Virginia and across the country. She also serves as an Adjunct Lecturer of Communication at both Christopher Newport University and Old Dominion University. Amanda is a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, Boy Scouts of America, and a certified COPE and Climbing instructor. She is a guest instructor at the American Mountain Guides Annual Meeting. She has consulted nationally on social media topics for Executive Directors. She is a past board member of the Newport News Rotary Club, a past board member of the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, a past officer in the Emera Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, member of Oriental Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, appointed member of Newport News Occasions city commission, and a founding board member of the Public Relations Society of America’s Virginia Peninsula Chapter. Originally from Mathews, Virginia and Newport News, Virginia. Amanda is a competitive equestrian, enjoys adaptive Crossfit and adaptive monoskiing and climbing. She is passionate about adaptive sports and helping others with disabilities participate fully. Amanda is the recipient of five prestigious national marketing awards from the Boy Scouts of America for brochure design, website design, and video design.
