Life is about appreciating the journey. I have learned to practice gratitude in receiving the gifts that life challenges can provide. I discovered crossfit a little over 3 years ago and it has changed my life. When I first started, my first wod was handstand pushups, GH situps and running (the 1st two - I had never done) I said to the coach "Do you know how old I am??" He wouldn't even go there...so I put my number aside and got to work. I love the instant bonding that happens with crossfitters. I can go anywhere and instantly bond with other crossfitters. I had a health scare 2 years ago - crossfit helped me overcome my challenge and was a great distraction for me. The support from my crossfit friends was amazing. Presently, going through a challenging separation/divorce and the recent Masters competiton was another great distraction. I love accepting challenges and seeing what I can do. Sometimes I'm at the top of the heap and sometimes I'm at the bottom - I'm grateful for the ability to do the work. I'm happy to keep up with my 'younger' peers and be in the middle. I know my day will be most excellent after a crossfit wod! My favorite line: "What's a thruster?" I am a perfect example of 'You don't have to know what you're doing to do crossfit'... All I ask is "be patient, speak up, repeat what you've just said (tell me again what we're doing) and write big for the senior in the house". We can all use and practice a little crossfit in our lives.
