North Cackalacka based Rap Icon and freestyle legend Sal Esposito, A.K.A. "The Don Dada", rose to prominence during the golden age of hip-hop in the early 1990s. Originally from Biloxi, Mizzouri, Sal relocated to Raliegh-Durham to team up with Edgar Allen Floe to form the short lived but memorable group "Streetniks". The group dissolved when Floe was shot to death outside the recording studio by an unidentified assailant; reportedly the result of a simmering feud between the Streetniks and a local crystal meth dealer. Devastated by the loss of his thuggish-ruggish companion, Sal went into a deep depression and turned to alcohol, drugs and loose women to numb the pain. One December morning he awoke in a storm drain, filthy and retched, with no memories of the past week. Disgusted with himself, Sal vowed to transform his pain into art and barricaded himself in the studio. He recorded non-stop for 11 days, without eating or sleeping, fueled solely by his desire to spit hot fire over burning wax. On the 12th day the recording engineer found him slumped unconscious over the mixing board. In his hands, he clutched the first copy of the album that would become an all-time classic. “Rich Gorrillaz” went certified platinum twelve times and has sold more than 12.6 million copies to date. These days The Don Dada stays in the studio but focuses on cultivating and producing new talent. His “Crack Magic” record label currently boasts emerging stars such as “Slim Python”, “Grimy Catz” and “Tha Fat Wops”. He has worked with stars from all genres including Beck, Taylor Swift and U2, and is rumored to be the genius behind the scenes of such recent pop-culture phenomena as the Super Bowl Half-Time Show “Left-Shark” and Nikki Minaj’s “Anaconda” video. Sal also Crossfit’s three times a week.
