Athlete: Stephanie Needham
How I Eat
I weigh and measure my food
I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount
Sometimes I weigh and measure. Sometimes not. It is definitely easier to stay closed to competition weight when I track my intake.
How I Train
I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate
I have a coach who determines my programming
I record my workouts
This past year I have been primarily Powerlifting.
My Athletic Background
I played youth or high school level sports
I played college sports
I played everything at school. Always made the teams but was never a standout player. Out of school I played soccer and field hockey and volleyball, ran, completed some triathalons. When my kids were little I started them in karate. They trained for a few years. I stuck around and hold a 2nd degree black belt in Shotokan Karate. I have competed in the Highland Games and plan to do so again this year, and now focus primarily on Powerlifting. As a result I have no great expectations for this years Open, but it will provide good information that will inform my training for next year.
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)
I have completed the CrossFit Level 1 certificate course
I have had a life changing experience due to CrossFit
I train other people
I guess it really is a life changing experience. Starting Crossfit June 2009 and working with my Naturopath on my diet weighing in at 260 lbs was the beginning of a journey that has brought me here.
My Work/Rest Schedule
I usually only do 1 workout a day
I strictly schedule my rest days
I typically rest 4 or more days per month
Powerlifting is a whole different beast. 5 workouts a week. No met-cons. Gymnastics once a week and the occasional hike.
