Athlete: Allison Bender
How I Eat
I eat strict Paleo
I eat 1-3 full cheat meals per week
I've been working with Amy Kubal, who is amazing! I am still working out the kinks in a fully Paleo adapted lifestyle, mostly balancing the stress of my day job and learning to always be prepared. I try to stick to 1-2 cheat items per week.
How I Train
I have a coach who determines my programming
I record my workouts
Quint Fischer, head coach at CrossFit Magnus in Portland OR, writes individual progrmming for me as a remote coach. He is a brilliant, evil genius who has done an incredible job helping me since we started working together in October 2012. Every single lift has gone up, and I am chipping away at being able to do the bodyweight skills that challenge me most! I work out in Washington, DC at Balance Gym Thomas Circle, often on my own and sometimes with CrossFit Balance members, doing the workouts Quint has programmed for me.
My Athletic Background
I played youth or high school level sports
I played college sports
I regularly play recreational sports

My Work/Rest Schedule
I do multiple workouts in a day 1x a week
I strictly schedule my rest days
I typically rest 4 or more days per month
I started jiujitsu at the Yamasaki Academy with my husband for fun and sometimes will do CrossFit workouts in the morning and jiujitsu in the evenings. They compliment each other so well. Leading up to the Open, I have focused on CrossFit, partially for more training time and partially to minimize risk of injury. After the competitive season for CrossFit passes, I look forward to balancing both more evenly. As a white belt, I have a lot to learn!
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
My first CrossFit class was noon on March 26, 2010. Crazy!
