I have no athletic background besides CrossFit
I've never played any organized sport. I believe it seriously helps athletes succeed within Crossfit competitions. Biggest pet peeve, "So and So has only been Crossfitting for 3 months...". What is neglected to be said is, they were a high level athlete for many years.
