I started Crossfitting at Reebok Crossfit YUL on Jan. 16, 2012 and have been hooked going 4-5 a week since. I grew up playing hockey and golf competing at the university level in the US. Since graduating in 2000, I gradually became less active and involved in organized sport even though I have been working in sports since 2003. Since I have been training regularly, I have completely changed my approach to training and nutrition and haven't looked back since. My ultimate goal is to stick to this healthy and active lifestyle to be able to enjoy the activities I love to do for a long time. I would also like to build my strength and mobility in order to get back into competitive golf on the Canadian amateur circuit. Good luck to all participants who share this common passion!
How I Eat
I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount
I eat 1-3 full cheat meals per week
Keeping it simple...fruits, eggs, almond butter for breakfast all week long, salad with veggies and fruit for lunch, meat or fish with more veggies for dinner with one or two cheat foods (sandwich wrap, sushi) per week with the occasional pint once a week for the Irish in me.
How I Train
I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate
I record my workouts
I try to make it to the box T-W-T in the evening and Sat morning for WODs with strength work on Sun depending on how body feels. I take breakdancing class and run from time to time to mix it up and play golf in the summer.
My Athletic Background
I played youth or high school level sports
I played college sports
I played varsity hockey and broomball in high school and golf at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. If only I had discovered CrossFit back then. Perhaps CrossFit will become a recognized NCAA sport someday...
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)
My Work/Rest Schedule
I usually only do 1 workout a day
I typically rest 4 or more days per month
1 workout a day with 1-2 rest days per week
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Since Jan. 16, 2012
