I am recovering from sarcoma, including several surgeries and radiation, so I modify most of my workouts. I am glad I can still compete against myself every day. Laura Barito, weightlifter and former CrossFit Games Regional athlete, does my programming, and I am very grateful to have her knowledge and support making me a better athlete.
How I Eat
I weigh and measure my food
My goals right now are about fat loss while maintaining muscle and performance, so I carefully track my food.
How I Train
I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate
I have a coach who determines my programming
I write my own programming
I record my workouts
My Athletic Background
I have no athletic background besides CrossFit
I have never been an athlete in my life before this. I even got cut from middle school volleyball.
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)
I have had a life changing experience due to CrossFit
Without CrossFit in my life, I am not sure I would be here. My friends and coaches I met through CrossFit the Ville were just what I needed to get me through some intense experiences with cancer/sarcoma. When everyone else around me was pitying me and trying to make me feel like a victim, CrossFit made me feel whole, strong, and hopeful. Nobody ever made me feel like a burden because they had to help me figure out how to modify so I wouldn't injure myself. They respected me, and helped me rise to the challenge and come out on the other side.
