Bio

I train at Crossfit X in Bellingham Washington. It is a wonderful crossfit community with a great owner in Travis, excellent coaches and supportive members. I started crossfit in July of 2012 but for the first year and a half I did not train seriously. That changed when I entered my first open in 2014, I performed poorly and had many glaring weaknesses. For the past year I have been training very hard and have been putting in a lot of extra time on my weaknesses. I am thrilled to make the Games and be able to compete against and learn from so many great masters athletes.

ATHLETE INFORMATION

How I Eat

I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount

I lean toward a paleo diet but not strictly.

How I Train

I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate

I record my workouts

I do at least 4 WODs a week and also try and lift a couple more times a week. Every training day I also spend additional time on things I need work on. I also trail run, swim and bike.

My Athletic Background

I played college sports

I was a college volleyball player and have been a university volleyball coach. In my forties I took up trail running ultra-marathons. In my fifties it was martial arts. In my late fifties and sixties it is crossfit. Not sure what it will be in my seventies.

My Experience With CrossFit

I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)

Excellent coaching (including my wife who reminds me not to train through injuries) is the main reason I have accomplished anything in crossfit.

My Work/Rest Schedule

I do multiple workouts in a day 1x a week

I typically rest 4 or more days per month

As I get more fit I plan to add more multiple workout days.

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

2-4 years

My first couple of years were hit or miss. Since July of 2014 I have been crossfiting very seriously.
