My name is Nathan Wieland and I have been doing Crossfit for 12 months now and haven't looked back! The community that you find in different boxes everywhere is second to none and the feeling of self achievement is enormous when you have everyone pushing you to give it everything you've got. This is my first time competing in the open just for fun and to see how I stack up against everyone in the world. Good luck to everyone and give this year everything you've got!
How I Eat
I eat whatever is convenient
I dont follow any particular diet or anything, I eat mainly whole foods and take supplements such as; protein, creatine, amino x and anything else that will help me recover from a WOD. I love bacon and eggs and would eat it every day but I'm too lazy to cook it.. so weet bix is good enough for me!
How I Train
I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate
I workout mostly at home, work, or a traditional gym
I train at Crossfit Townsville in QLD, and I also have a membership to a 24hr gym, so I can go anytime I see fit and practice some Olympic lifts and most importantly SQUAT! Also own lots of crossfit equipment at home for working out at home. Kettlebell, jump rope, pull up bar etc.
My Athletic Background
I regularly play recreational sports
Play volleyball, waterpolo, touch footy and AFL on a regular basis, a vast variety of sports keeps things interesting!
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit by trying it alone (without a coach)
My first crossfit session I ever did, was when I was in my most unfit state in my life. The bloke who came up with the workout, is a freak when it comes to crossfit and it wasn't a overly exhausting workout like "Wood" or "Murph" or any other hero wod, but I still managed to pass out 3 times after I had finished! He found me 15 min later, fully clothed, laying in the fetal position in the bottom of a shower with it running nothing but cold water. That was in Jan 2013 and I have never looked back since.
My Work/Rest Schedule
I do multiple workouts in a day 3+ times a week
PT every morning, crossfit in the afternoon and Gym at night. Sleep is well earned!
