I started CrossFit in late 2008 on my own in the weight room at UCLA. I found the site thanks to PK McDonald who grew up in Santa Cruz. I did my first WOD at an affiliate over Thanksgiving of 2008 at CrossFit East Sacramento. I attended the 2009 SoCal Regionals (placing 9th) unattached and joined CrossFit Los Angeles in April of 2009. I competed at the 2010 SoCal Sectionals and won, only to be diagnosed with endocarditis and a heart murmur in April 2010. I under went open heart surgery in May 2010 and moved to Austin, TX for grad school in August 2010. I competed at the 2011 South Central Regional taking 7th place. I took 5th at the 2012 and 2013 South Central Regionals and I continue to enjoy competing! I completed the Level 1 Certification Course in the spring of 2011 and have attended the CrossFit Strongman, Striking, Self Defense, and Olympic Lifting Specialty Courses. I am a co-owner of CrossFit Jaakarhu (ya-car-who) in Austin. I was the co-chair of the Staff Services Volunteer Committee at the CrossFit Games in 2013.
